Watching Pokemon Horizons, and I really really love it.

I especially love the trope of magic powers only manifesting in extreme danger. Reminds me a lot of Aang and the Avatar state.

I love when the villains specifically attack them or their friends/team/family to incite the magical reaction. How far do they need to go before it kicks in? How much damage do they need to do?

Maybe it's the Megatron in him, but Gibeon sounds so much more furious with Amethio in the dub. In the subs, Gibeon's anger and dismissal sounded more cold.

One thing that I really like tho is the schism between the Explorers over this-- Sidian and Hamber, even someone as generally unreasonable as Coral, are willing to hear Amethio out and not immediately jump to judging him, while Spinel and Chalce jump straight to accusations, with even Gibeon falling for their ploy, and not even willing to hear his own grandson out.

(It's also pretty interesting with the recent reveal that Gibeon hand-picked Spinel to become a member of the Explorers, like perhaps he always had the notion of Amethio one day turning down the "wrong path" after his father, and that was the point of that culty show of loyalty from HZ054, and chose Spinel as more a true heir of sorts. He was already pretty quick to dismiss Amethio after he had pursued Liko against orders, even tho he came back with valuable information about the Black Rayquaza's awakening, in favor of telling Spinel to pursue them instead.)
